Our Original Penguin glasses have been made with
the same attention to detail and flair that saw the
clothing brand become an American classic in the
60’s & 70’s, famously worn by Frank Sinatra, Dean
Martin & Clint Eastwood.

We love the story of the origin of the label. In 1955,
a man named Abbot Pederson was in New York on
a sales trip for the Munsingwear brand. His return
flight delayed, he started drinking and, worse for
wear, stumbled across a stuffed penguin in the
window of a taxidermy shop. Having bought it, he
took it on his flight and, a few more drinks later,
accidentally knocked its head off! A friendly flight
attendant took Abbot’s tie off and wrapped it
around the pengiun's neck, holding its head in
place. She joked that the image should be used
on shirts and so the ‘pengiun with tie’ logo was
born!
